Materials left behind in industrial and craft work\u2014such as rope, fabric, and mizuhiki\u2014are reassembled into an installation using traditional techniques like Japanese decorative knotting and macram\u00e9, along with original structural methods.
The organic forms, reminiscent of roots and vines, carry moments of transformation and transition, symbolizing a continuous flow of time from the past into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellspring is centered on a place that has not yet bloomed\u2014
a point where once-discarded materials, trusting in the future, come together again.
It is in that quiet act of connection that the presence of life begins to appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cfirst knot\u201d that begins a connection is placed in the past.
The life force dwelling in the complex tangles of roots and vines represents the present.
And the presence of life that begins to stir\u2014heading toward an \u201cending\u201d that is in fact a new knot\u2014echoes the future.
This piece weaves a story that spans from past to future, and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work is part of the Milestone series.
As the name suggests, it captures the turning points of time and history\u2014moments of transformation.
The entire series is set within the same imagined \u201cforest world.\u201d
While previous works have focused on the past and present, this piece carries the narrative forward into the future, imagining even the moment when color emerges and fragrance begins to rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a technical perspective, the structure is built upon meaningful techniques rooted in my own personal history and heritage\u2014
primarily the Japanese decorative knot known as Awaji musubi<\/em> (also called the Josephine knot<\/em>), connected through macram\u00e9 using square knots.
Together, they form an original composition unique to this piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a playful touch, I\u2019ve quietly hidden one of my favorite knots\u2014the Cross knot, also known as the Japanese fortune knot <\/em>(Kanou musubi<\/em>)\u2014within the work,
entrusting it with a small hope for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
